Has anyone tried it yet. Just seen that it was released yesterday. Found it strange that there wasn't a post for it here already.

CHANGES

- Selfhealing has been removed for better compatiblity with other Pinnacle products

- New DAL for better drive support

- new ASAPI interface for better writing performance

- Works only with InstantCopy 8 (stand alone)

How to do an administrative update to your original instant copy installer files to make a new integrated v8.0.5 installer. (I used what I learned from doing this to Microsoft Office)
Download the update (In all the following alter to match your directory structure
ftp://ftp.pinnaclesys.de/driver/pc/InstantCDDVD/Copy8.0.0_to_8.0.5_Update.msp and save as Update.msp

1)Copy you installation files to a location, I used C:\Download\IC8
2)Start >Run C:\Download\IC8\InstantCopy.exe /a The administrative mode install will begin, choose a destination.ie: C:\Download\IC805 that will finish and ask you to restart, don't cancel it you have not installed anything!
3)You have downloaded and saved the update as C:\Download\Update.msp
4)Start >Run msiexec /p C:\Download\Update.msp /a C:\Download\IC805\InstantCopy.msi /qb

It will do a silent update and finish and ask you to reboot, again do not as you have not installed anything.

Now in your C:\Download\IC805 you have an integrated v8.0.5 ready to install.

Hey for more info on this fun stuff just google up "installshield switches" or commands

Afterwards if you want you can copy over the multi-ling transform files, InstantCopy.exe and InstantCopy.ini instmsi.exe&instmsiw.exe to you 8.0.5 integrated folder this isn't however crutial, just retains the multi-ling installation.

@syzygytec

Thanks for your post, very useful. One of my pet hates when installing a new system is having to go through installing old versions of software and then numerous patches to bring them up to date.

I have InstantCopy 8.0.4 (also known as 8.0.0.267) installed now. Can I follow this same technique to upgrade to version 8.0.5? Thanks.

You'd think by now that they could fix the size problem once and for all. Maybe give a multipass option. I guess it's never going to happen.

It would also be really nice if they fixed the conflict between Pinnacle's DVD writer driver and everyone else's.

@toadatrix
I would assume so, never knew of an 8.0.4 myself but as long as it's the real deal and is lesser v it should update the same.

I only tried on movie with this , it wouldn't even play unfortunatety, transcoding not really my thing anyway, think I'm going to write it off as a loss and stay with re-encoding methods.
