How to join a split movie without loosing the chapters?

i know i can join the parts of a split movie with vobedit
but after reading the guides i didn't find anything on how to keep the chapters
can anyone help me with this?

You can do this with some manual calculation, but I guess that's not what you're looking for. By the way, what type is you source?

my source are 2 dvds

i know i can just extract the chapter lists and create a new one from hand. i thought their might be a more automatic way

I know there is a guide I used once (and that works ;) ), but I can't remember it well enough. It was using VobEdit and IfoEdit, but I'm absolutely unable to find it again.

On an other hand, there may be another way, using DVDShrink (v3.0 beta5) ; simply use the reauthor function (I recently wrote a mini-quick-short guide in these forums about it), and you should have 2 VOB IDs, that a standalone will read one after the other.

well, i was looking for a way that really joins them (it's not teh last step in my editing)

so you need the vobedit way ; there are two ways : joining clips or joining cellvobs. But as I told you earlier, I can't remember much. But it can help on your research :) ...
