NTFS vs FAT32X

Ok after a few rips have failed I began to think that my DVD rom was going bad.
I have a Sony DDU1621 and I am using Winxp home upgrade that I bought.

To make a long story short I noticed that if my primary hard disk was using FAT32x
I had no trouble ripping any DVD, but if I was using NTFS there is were all the problems came in.
I tried a fresh install only using winxp ntfs and most dvd (using smart ripper) would fail having read errors with several retries. If I install win98 first then upgrade to winxp leaving it fat32 everything works fine. It even rips at a very fast rate

well just from the top of my head...

have you got any ntfs security features turned on? like ntfs encryption or last opened time stamps or compression? Other than that I duno... you could try a installing a different ASPI version or try installing nero since that comes with it's own aspi though if your problem is really only ntfs related then that probably wouldn't help. Try using dvd decrypter I guess

everything is left the same from a freash install.
I have nero 6.03 installed and I have tried to use dvd decrypter, smart ripper and vstrip

Have you tried using dvd decrypter and using it in defferent modes like aspi and spti.

Apart from that I am stumped. As far as I know ntfs or fat32 shouldn't make any differece. You could try seeing if there are any windows updates that deal with either harddrive or ide drivers or file system drivers.

I have tried different modes in DVD decrypter and they all work the same.

Well everything works great now so I’m going to leave it alone.
