After extracting 34 chapters from a movie using Chapter Xtractor, saving them in the Maestro format and importing the Chapter file into the timeline, Maestro says only "18 Chapter points inserted". Where am I going wrong in losing the other 16 Chapters?
Thanks,

probably the very common 1hr starting timecode for the m2v file, which would have been mentioned on the forum about 50 times by now.

Thats a scenario I've never come across but ur more experienced auenf than me. What I've found is that an m2v recompiled with cce never imports the correct number of chapter points (something to do with I frames I think). I keep a long low quality m2v file authored with TMPG and bring that inot maestro, import the chapters then delete it and add the correct m2v. The chapter points stay in position even after u delete the first m2v

Andykard, if you haven't included the chapterlist in CCE then there will not be iframes at all the chapter points, however the chapters will be set at the nearest iframe (or next iframe, or something, depending upon the settings) and all will be imported.
The correct number of chapters being imported is related to the timecode issue, as auenf said. In CCE 2.66/2.67 at least, the default is 1:00:00:00 so this must be added to all the values in the chapter list. Either that or change the timecode to 00:00:00:00

It is the same in CCE 2.5. Timecode is set to 1:00:00:00 by default. I have never had a problem with importing chapters both in Scenarist and Maestro.

Matthew I have tried importing the chapter list into CCE and it doesnt make any difference. The solution I use has been mentioned many times in this forum and wasnt something I came up with on my own. I have used CCE 2.5, 2.66 and now 2.67 and have never had my chapters imported correctly. I cant remember the message Maestro outputs but it is something to do with I frames not matching. However the solution I suggested works everytime.

It is weird . I have never had problem with importing chapters into Maestro - maybe some NTSC issue...

I think auenf hit the nail on the head... I've seen this happen a lot of times, expecially with .M2V that came out of ReJig and CCE files that haven't had the timecode reset to 00:00:00:00 -- as Matthew and coona mentioned already it defaults to 01:00:00:00. What happens is that Maestro imports only the chapters after the one hour mark...
I've personally never had a problem with importing chapter marks in Maestro. You sometimes have to be careful with dropframe and the difference between ":" and ";" in the timecodes of the chapter files.

it might be quite a lame solution, but hey - if it's easy and it works - I can use a any foolish idea:
I had this problem only once, and I used *ifoupdate* (1.72/73)chapter handling to create a modified chapter file.
Don't remember the exact entries in the menu, but it has some adjusted cce mode + the offset, and I got a 1h delayed file which played correctly in Maestro and of course after burning...
if it helps anyone...
