I'm currently doing some DVDRs with tv episodes I've grabbed myself, and while TMPGEnc DVD Author is fine for doing the menus, I was wondering if there was any way to put some background music on the menus?

The only way of doing it - as I see it - is to add an mpeg playing in the background, which wasn't exactly what I wanted. I just wanted a still picture and some music. Maybe it just isn't possible in TMPGEnc DVD Author?

If you happen to know of another program in which this is possible, I'd be happy to receive suggestions. I'm still kinda new to DVD-authoring, although I've got stuff like muxing and demuxing mpegs covered. I was thinking of DVDLab, but haven't looked much at it.

No, this is not possible in TMPGEnc DVD Author without creating a motion menu, i.e. separate MPEG file.

DVDit supports this feature, but the program itself can be very unstable in certain system configurations.

Here's a link to a post that may be what you have in mind. The motion menu with audio was created using Microsoft Plus, Digital Media Edition and dvd Author. There is a link to a sample motion menu for you to see how it looks.
