View Full Version : AVI2VCD synchronisation problems

I have searched the database and cannot find an answer to my particular problem. Hope someone can help.....

I have an AVI file that plays fine with no sync problems. However, when I try to convert to MPEG/VCD using AVI2VCD, it jumps out of sync during the last 15 minutes or so.

When I use VirtualDub I get an error message that advises that the source file has an improper VBR audio encoding which it can fix with an 8424ms skew. This is probably the source of the premature cut off using AVI2VCD.

Also, have tried to manually configure TMPGEnc as well as Nero AVI to VCD conversion, but have had similar results. Interstingly, when splitting AVI file in TMPGEnc it defaults to creating a file 3 times the size of the one that I create if I manually select start and end points for what appears to be the full AVI file.

I thought it could be a problem with VBR audio, which can cause the output VCD to have de-synced audio I believe, but have used VirtualDub/Nandub to extract a WAV of the audio and then used TMPEGenc to remerge the AVI video source and WAV into a MPEG file and still get out of sync on the final part of the output.

I believe that I have recent versions of all software and am operating XP on a Pentium 4 with sufficient RAM and free disk space.

AVI2VCD Log file for one of the attempts is set out below:

In STICKY INDEX you will find a post about AVI2VCD problems and how to solve them.
In your case, probably you have to use VirtualDubMod instead of VirtualDub
