DV in Gordian Knot

I think that using Gordian Knot could be a solution for newbies regarding the transfer of DV data targeting one CD or even chosing a final size.
The crop and resize functions could be very useful in chosing the parameter Bits/(pixel*frame).
The accompaning avisynth filters from GK could also be used with DV material.

I'd have some questions here, regarding the editing of the avisynth script:
1. Can DirectShowSource be used as source ?
2. Should I add a ASsumeBFF() line ?
3. What other settings are recommended for DV PAL?

I'd be interested in a script that can be modified and used in Gordian Knot with his own installed filers for PAL source and if other can be added and which ones.

afaik use only avisynth 2.52 o newer of dv input.
Avisource could be ok.
assumebff ? (don't know...)

i use a scrpt like this

avisource("c:\file.avi")
convolution("moviehq")
tomsmocomp(1,15,1)

better to try open your script in MPC and watch what is better for you.

I also used Avisynth with my DV stuff. Use Mipsmooth(preset="MovieHQ") hwich a sort of evolution of convolution3d.

@ Mtz If you are deinterlacing AssumeBFF() is OK because DV is botom field first
Personaly I use EBITDA method for converting DV material to DivX/XVID found here.

The quality is perfect, and You can put 30min 640x480@50fps or 60min as 512x384@50fps. For denoising I only apply peachsmoother only for indoor recordings.

When I go for CVD(352x576) for my standalone DVD player, I use higher values for peachsmoother for better compression. The target values for me is 31 min. on 1 CD as CVD avg. bitrate 3350 kbps for indoor recordings, and 20 min on 1 CD for outdoor at average bitrate arround 5250 kbps.

AVISynth defaults to BFF, so Assume isn't needed.
