View Full Version : Scenarist error for AVI2DVD

The Belgain
10th December 2003, 17:39
I'm converting a 45 minute NTSC XviD TV episode to DVD (to watch on standalone). Using CCE and CBR 9000, with 384 stereo mp2 (since size isn't an issue as it's only 45 minutes on a DVD+RW). Using latest DVD2SVCD, and CCE 2.50.

Audio encoding, video encoding, and pulldown work fine, but when scenarist loads up, it says something about the length of the video file not being correct. And fails to create any output files (other than log files) in the DVD-Mux folder. It then says that it can't create the DVD image. I also get a warning about the bitrate being too high (which it isn't).

I tried authoring the CCE output using TMPGEnc DVDAuthor, and the process worked fine, but the audio is out of synch.

Any ideas? Thanks for help.

this is a bit of a guess but try encoding at 8000 instead of 9000 it might do the trick i think its something to do with the combined bitrates(audio video)being more than 10mbps ish!
good luck!

The Belgain
11th December 2003, 00:24
I'll try that now, but surely using 9000 CBR video plus 384 CBR audio shouldn't go anywhere near the peak 9800 that is allowed in the spec? I know CBR isn't really CBR, but all the same...

The Belgain
11th December 2003, 01:20
Right...I've retried usign 8000 CBR and have exactly the same problem.

This is what Scenarist says under the "Build" tab:

and under the "Import" tab, i get this:

and more help would be very welcome. This is puzzling me somewhat seeing as encodes of other episodes seem to work fine using exactly the same settings.

And i've now retried with a different source file (but exactly the same type - XviD + VBR mp3 in avi) at 9000 CBR and there is no problem.

It is a problem related to the source file, though what I can't say. GSPot doesn't spot any problem with the file, and the file plays fine.

I got exactly the same error in Scenarist 2.7

Somewhere in the Message Window of Scenarist I found this:

Info Creating DVD Files
Warning Sub-Picture (stream 1 in Track "Encoded_Video_CCE_PAL-t") is across scene boundary at 01:49:18;23

Maybe that has something to do with it, I don't know.

Can anyone help us out here?

Seems my error has another cause....I will post a new thread!
