Pioneer DV-563A Universal Player

Just picked up this player on sale at Definitive Audio in Seattle for 150 dollors and it's the best buy I've made to date. It will play anything, you name it, it will play it. From SACD and DVD Audio all the way to +RW. I have not tried SVCD yet but who cares about SVCD anyway. Does it play DVD-MP3? Most of DVD player will play MP3 from a CD. But not many will play MP3 from a DVD-R.

You know I was not shure so I checked the owners manual and it says yes. But I have not tried it, owners manual also says it WILL NOT play SVCD but it does. I will have to throw a MP3 DVD together and see.

I read someone's review and he said that this player does play DVD-MP3, DVD-A and SACD. There are reviews also said this player has pretty good PQ as well. I think this will be my next player although it does not hae DVI output. I guess to have a player that does everything that I want(DVI, Divx, DVD-MP3...), I will have to have 2 players. I don't want a flimpsy player either. Thanks.

I also compared this player with Pioneer's Elite model that looks exactly the same except for the "Elite" logo on the disc tray. I can't tell the difference externally, maybe it has slightly better DAC's but the feature list is exactly the same, and it cost like $700.

Verified, plays MP3's from CD or DVD, displays track info on front while playing also.

Cool. How much did you pay for it? Looks like it's between $150-$170

Yesterday I bought the Pioneer DV-565A which also plays SACD and DVD-Audio. I haven't tried it yet but I wonder what the differencies are from the DV-563A? I bought it in Sweden and I have heard that there may be differencies between Europe and USA models. Maybe this is the european version of 563A?

I own this as my secondary player and love it. Plays any burned movie I throw at it.
If there was an easy firmware hack to make it region free, it would be the all time best player.
I'm pretty sure it plays PAL discs natively.
