Just a simple newbie question.
I recently started to uce dvd2svcd to get mpg2files to use to reauthor to DVD'S

So when i have a Divx or a Xvid with AC3 - my surround reciever pops into 5.1 mode like a dream. But when i recode it with dvd2svcd - what setting should i actually use under audio to get same result ?
I tried just hit Convert - but no surround there - then i tried to set it to mpg 5.1 sound - but then i either get no sounf - or dvd2svcd just hangs. :(

Any tips or ideas ?

There is no setting to do that.
MPEG5.1 and AC3 5.1 are completely different and so selecting MPEG5.1 will not work.
If you are converting from DVD there is a "use source audio" option to keep the AC3 soundtrack. Sadly it is unavailable in AVI mode.

It needs updating to accomodate D2SRoBa plugin but the method here works.

Hi xboxnoob

It's not polite to advertise myself, but I've been working on AVI+ac3 inputs for dvd2dvd.. May be you would like to try my mdvdauth plugin (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45504)

At the end of the thread is a link to mdvdauth_0.3.0, which is the latest version, still in a beta stage, but seems it works (although there are a couple of bugs detected)

I normaly use DVD2SVCD and after the ac3 track is demultiplexed and saved to the working folder (with the name of demuxed_audio_1.ac3 or something like that), I run the utility AC3fix on the ac3 track.

For unknonw reasons, if I multiplex the original demultiplexed ac3 track with the MPEG2 video, I get no sound neither using PowerDVD or in the standalone plaxer, but if I run this little program on the ac3 track, the resulting "fixed" ac3 track can be multiplexed with a mpeg2 stream (I use DVDLab for these purposes) to obtain a DVD with an audio track that works both in software DVD players and in my standalone payer.

I hope this helps

Hi again xboxnoob,
Only bad - no support of subs
Yes they are supported, but in AVI2DVD only one external sub in sup format. Currently working on default colours, but in the meantime, you can change them manually...
Do you need more than one sub? May be I can do something...

If you try the plug, please report your experience with it in its thread. Thanks in advance.
