TMPG and PanScan

Is there anyway to encode pan scan files with tmpgenc ?

Do you mean 4:3 movies or do you want to crop 16:9 to 4:3? For both, the answer is yes. For the cropping, you set No margin (keep aspect ratio) under the Video arrange Method: in the advanced tab. Just be warned, you are going to crop off a lot from both sides.

Sorry but you were completely wrong.
In fact you didn't get what I wanted to say.
If you pay some attention to DVDs you see that every 16:9 movies can play in 3 modes.
1 - Wide , which is faces are tall.
2 - LetterBox , Which has a black band at the top and bottom of screen
3 - PanScan , which is cropped from left and right.

You see that the file is just encoded as a 16:9 file.
But (for example in scenarist) you must assign that the file is 16:9 or 4:3 or 4:3(panscan)
Unfortunatly I couldn't find any software that can do this.
Just MpegRepair can do this if the encoder sets Sequence_Display_Extention to 0. In fact , tmpg doesn't set to 0.

Well that was rather rude. You should have given a bit more information, especially if you are going to say I was completely wrong when I was trying to help you. Next time, please read the forum rules on how to make a good post. That way things like this wont happen.

I think what you want to do is on the authoring end and not at the encoding level. There are ways to set AR flags, crop sides, or add borders (ie, letterbox) while you encode. Maybe there's someone else here that can help you, because I don't have your answer.

In fact yes u r right.
It is in authoring level.
But the encoder must add the pan scan flag to the video stream.
I see that only mpeg repair can add this. (And ReStream)
But I just want to ask that TMPG can or not .
