I recently reinstalled a computer for the soul purposed of encoding. So it has a fresh install and i just updated GK. It worked fine before the reinstall, and now it it cant finish anything. It always reboots, this also happens with DVD2SVCD. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a hardware problem to me, maybe overheating. You got something you can monitor the temps with, like Motherboard Monitor?

I agree with manano. Since this is a fresh setup that's not working, you might want to make sure your drivers are current, especially those of the motherboard's chipset. But it could be anything. I've seen a case where old SB Audigy drivers could cause the video card to crash out, due to poor DMA use.

yeah it seems that it is my system overheating, i just dont know why it started doing this now, after my reinstall. It is a microATX case and mobo, and it was super hot! Looks like im gonna have to do some sort of case modding. Or arranging, thanks for the help, let me know if you have any ideas for mircoATX cooling.

A quick, cheap fix is often to leave the case cover off. Those micros can be tough to keep cool, especially if you've got a newer 3D card in them. You might want to check to make sure that a fan isn't going out - they tend to start turning slower before they quit altogether.

If you have a free drive bay, you can use a bay fan cooler in order to get more air exchange with the outside air (first example found: http://shop.store.yahoo.com/directron/sc188.html). Also, make sure your fans are all blowing in one direction. Often, fans in front sucking into the computer, fans in back blowing out, for instance, not both ends blowing in, or both blowing out, etc.

Well i think its my proc overheating which i know is a very bad thing. So I think im gonna get a new fan, heatsink, and thermal paste. Anyone recommend any of those products for a duron. Also i think im gonna get a fan for the pci slots. I was also thinking about taking a dremel to the top and bottom and placing fans and grills.

If you need that many fans somthing else is wrong. A CPU shouldn't need more then an open case and the right heatsink/fan attached to it. If your saying the system runs fine with the case open then two fans should be adequate for cooling. Make sure the air flow is the same throughout the case. IE: front fans blowing air in the case and rear fans drawing air out.

I'd also reattach the processor heatsink - maybe it has been moved a little and doesn't have good contact to the cpu anymore.

In addition to this check the PSU voltages - maybe you need a new, stronger PSU (especially consider this if you have added any new hardware like a new graphic card)
