Hi,

I just encoded an XVID file using autoGK and ended up with the commentary track *Doh!*

How do I know which channel to select in the autoGK GUI?
In this particular case there were two, the defualt - CH6 and another in the drop down menu - CH2.

Is there a way to preview outside of GK (read that as "quickly")?

Thanks for the tip

Normally you want to pick the 2 channel track if your going to encode your ac3 as a stereo mp3. But if the track names are not listed, then you can bet you money that the 6 channel track will always be the default track. Also the first track is usually the English track that corresponds to the movie(6 channel or 2 channel).

If you rip with DVD Decrypter with stream information enabled (which autoGK requires IIRC) the 'VTS_xx - Stream Information.txt' file will tell you which audio stream is which.

would this stream information.txt be in the same output directory as all of the .ifo .bup and .vob files?

I see in DVD Decrypter that stream informaton is enabled under create addtional files, but I don't see any text files.

Hello and welcome.

would this stream information.txt be in the same output directory as all of the .ifo .bup and .vob files?

Didn't you rip using IFO Mode? You should have, and then you would have seen the Stream Information file also.

I just installed DVD Decrypter and this was my first go. It looks as if it is in File mode. This must be the install default as I was following the Doom9 guide and did not adjust any settings.

Is it possible that this would affect the audio tracks? I just re-encoded using the other (at least I'm 99% sure that I did) channel and got the commentary again.

Can I listen to any of the ripped files to see if I can find the soundtrack?

thanks all you mods

I've never used autoGK, and I wasn't aware Doom9 published a guide for it. But his standard GK guide(s) use Robot4Rip, which is an application that uses DVD Decrypter in IFO mode.

You can "listen" to the .ac3 tracks if you've installed AC3Filter (part of the standard GK release).

I only have .ifo .bup and .vob files as a result of DVD decrypter.

no .ac3

How can I figure out (for future reference) which channel I want to use?

Hi-

AutoGK gets the audio from the vobs during the indexing (DVD2AVI) stage.

for future reference, rip in IFO Mode, and then read the Stream Information file afterwards to see what kind of audio streams you have.

This must be the install default as I was following the Doom9 guide and did not adjust any settings.

Doom9 assumes you know some things. If you had read the Guide (http://len0xmirror1.serveftp.net/~len0x/tutorial/AutoGK.html#3) that comes with AutoGK, you would have seen this:

set the Mode to IFO.

complete with pictures. That guide assumes you know nothing.
