I did a search for this issue but I can't seem to find it anymore. I used to get crashes all the time at the DVD Authoring (Scenarist) stage. I found the solution in these forums (fora? haha. let's not get hoity toity) at one point, but I can't find it anymore.
Basically, Scenarist doesn't like chapter lengths of zero. Some DVDs have a last chapter of length zero at the end, perhaps to throw off authoring tools. My current solution is to manually edit the dvd2svcd chapters file.ini and the DVD Maestro Chapters File.chp and remove the last chapter. That fixes it.
However, I've noticed during intial setup that when DVD2SVCD loads up the IFO for processing, it automatically selects all chapters except the last one. I'm assuming DVD2SVCD noticed the chapter length of zero. Why doesn't DVD2SVCD actually leave out the bogus last chapter in dvd2svcd chapters file.ini and the DVD Maestro Chapters File.chp?
BTW, I usually rip the DVD to an image using DVD Decryptor, mount it using Daemon Tools, and encode from there. I'm using DVD2SVCD 1.2.1 build 3, and Scenarist 2.7.
Thanks.
