Question re DVD transcoding products

Like Instant Copy 7/8 and DVD Shrink v2.3 and 3b5.

Whe a DVD is opened in DV Shrink, it represents a DVD as a folder, with 1st level subfolders Menus, Main Movie and Extras. Menus (in the specific DVD I am trialling) has 9 "English" subfolders, and each of these subfolders contains one or more "Menuitems" (Menu 1, Menu 2 etc).

Main Movie and Extras both contain various Titles.

When one reauthors the original DVD to a new DVD, none of the 1st level subfolders on the original DVD can be dragged across to the new DVD, only Menuitems and Titles can be. Menuitems become titles.

My Question (At last! they cry): Is there any DVD transcoder which represents the DVD as DVD Shrink does, but simply allows one to delete unwanted Menuitems or Titles, then save the modified DVD as a new DVD (retaining the Menus, Main Movie and Extras structure)?

EDIT: both aren't transcoder, but are able to rebuild dvd with your selected files.

I've seen posts here saying that Nero Recode lets you remove assets, but I haven't yet used it, so I don't know what that means precisely.

I've also gotten the impression that Recode's interface is very much like DVDShrink. I've even seen posts the the author of DVDShrink is also an author on Recode (which is mighty interesting).

Nero Recode is pretty much DVD Shrink on steroids. You can, indeed, elliminate entire titlesets, replacing them with a single still frame which, by default, reads something along the lines of "video has been removed." Kind of like the "still pictures" function normally found in Shrink -- only, instead of making a slide show out of the feature, you only see the bitmap message screen. Like Shrink, you can adjust the compression of your menus, extras, and main feature to your preferance. Really, the only true difference between the functions of both programs is that DVD Shrink offers on-the-fly decryption... while Recode doesn't. On the other hand, Recode can be set up to burn the final DVD once processing is done... while Shrink only copies to a file on the hard drive for burning at a later time.

I haven't toyed with the Recode 2 package yet (which, I understand, has been released as a beta), but my understanding is that you're able to create video CDs; akin to InstantCopy. Recode 2 also allows for the conversion of DVD to Mpeg4, ala DIVX. I've also heard that it will allow for the joining of titlesets off of different DVDs (joining a flipper, for example). I'm sure Doom9 will post us with some guides concerning Recode 2 once he's had time to play with his new toy. :)

when I last tried the Recode demo, it didn't allow Menu removal and we all know what they can contain ;)

does the new version do this?

No clue, as of yet, if it can remove menus... but I've been sorta curious about that, myself! Anyone else out there know?

I been using recode for a while
you can't remove menus
you can't remove adverts at the front of the movie

you can only shrink extras to 50%
most of the time I just use dvd2one....and stop ads playing the hard way with ifoedit.
(using 2cools guide to set the play time to 0 seconds)
