I did some searches and i found some toptics about this.
I also know that there ain't static numbers you can hold on. Depanding on your tv and some newer tv's don't have this.

But what is the mininum you should hold to, when adding borders.
I read somewhere you should stick to 5% and here, i read 10%
I don't want to put to much borders.

Would it be something like this, or is this too less.
addborders (4,2,4,2)

Based on my tiny experiences (2 TV sets :p ) a border of 16 to each side is OK, but 32 is too much.

Hi-

TV's come from the manufacturer with between 5 and 10% overscan. This can be adjusted downward a little bit if you have access to the service menu (not for the fainthearted). But for my TVs, AddBorders(16,16,16,16) is also best.

You can also try to measure your TV overscan to be sure. If you are in NTSC land, this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=378891&highlight=overscan#post378891) may be of help.

Those values will depend on the resolution you are encoding at..
The higher the resolution, I find, the higher the value needed for the overscan border...

The best way is to test it yourself.

Make an encode using the script in this thread below and count the pixels :)
