What's gives the best video quality

I'm looking for something like Instantcopy that will give the best video quality. I very realy do compression. Do I lose video quality if I don't do compression?

You will lose quality when you compress. I will just repeat what others have told me, quality for the result of any backup software is subjective.

Time for benefit of the doubt. I'm thinking your post means something different than what it sounds - something along the lines of "I'm using Instant Copy, but I'm looking for a way to get even better quality".

To answer your question, if you transcode a title with no compression, the video quality will be preserved (at least, that's what no compression does in DVDShrink). You won't lose quality.

Of course, to transcode a DVD9 without compressing it means either discarding something or splitting it to 2 DVDRs.

This is a very subjective question. It all depends on what you want or are going to backup.
For a full disc backup I think dvd2one is best. The transcoding is much better than any others. But some dvds do give dvd2one a bit of problem.

for just backing up the main movie without all the extras. Its hands down dvdshrink. you can keep compression down to a minimum and get rid of a lot of crap like dolby 2 chnl, subtitles, warnings,ect. This is my personal favorite.

I will chime in and humbly disagree. Personally, I feel DVD2One has the worst quality of all the transcoders. Others here will agree (or disagree). I think InstantCopy is still the best, despite its problems.
