Curious if there is any reason to use one over the other...I seem to remember the issue was encoding with YUV12 which at the time Virtualdub didn't do...am I completely wrong on this one?

There are many reasons to go on for VDM. For instance the support to produce Matroska, OGM..etc. In case of sound ac3, Ogg...etc. :search: or :readfaq: will give more reasons. Look here:

For me the best reason to use vdubmod is the ability to write AVISynth scripts right in the program. The program is very AVS friendly.

Too bad it is not updated like vdub... :(

Did I hear not updated? :p

Well, the major reason it took a while is that Avery again introduced major changes which were not that easy to merge :)

Oh, it wasn't a critique at all. I still find it much more useable than vdub.
