View Full Version : dev-api-4 builds

I almost highjacked Koepi's thread but figured I'd have questions that I would have to answer on this so it should be cleaner to do it like this.
Due to the fact that there are updates a lot more often the Koepi or any of the other developers release binaries I am making my private autobuilder site public. I checked with sysKin and he OK'd the posting of build's for anyone thinking about making their own. Thanks to Koepi for helping me with NSIS and I am also using his xvid.ax file that was in with Aloha (I cant autobuild it).
It's a full installer that is rebuilt every 20mins when there are updates made to the xvid cvs tree. If a file fails to download it may be still uploading so wait 30mins and try again (I upload the builds at 6k/s and they upload as they finish building).
http://xvid.gamrdev.com/
Any feedback is welcomed.
What the actual cvs changes were arent shown currently, only the filenames of what changed, im working on that next unless there is something major that i dont know about yet.
*NOTE* The latest build is at the BOTTOM of the page, not the top, the higher the number the newer, I am seeing people downloading the oldest versions on the page.

thx a lot gamr! let me understand this correctly, you build a new xvid.dll every 20min and keep xvid.ax from koepi's build right?

Oh that's great! That's certainly appreciated!:D
Thx gamr! When I'm too lazy to build one I'll use yours :D
Amongst others, I guess these updates are after Aloha's b-day:
Thread safe MPEG4 quantization functions
and
Slightly different new GUI - where you could tweak btwn Target Size and Target Bitrate in the 2ndpass. :)
Well, go to gamr's site and grab the build. :)
@gamr
Since you're using Koepi's DS decoder, the differences btw your build and Koepi's is basically xvid.dll, liitle docs and Koepi's tools(statesreader, calculators...).
Before we install your build, do we have to uninstall Aloha? If that's the case, we can't use those tools.
So I was thinking maybe providing a single xvid.dll and telling users to copy it to
\system32
or their Vd/Vdmod folders could be an idea.:)

I think what he means is, everytime there are changes in cvs, in 20minutes there would be a build on his site...:)

amazing, i was expecting someone to scream at me for a non working binary or something, instead its positive! :D
i have to work out how to compile a debug build sometime soon now so you guys can give decent bug reports back to the xvid team.
i just added download counters on each file to the site so now lets see what is most popular :)
@ssjkakaroto: i check for updates every 20mins and on an update i rebuild it (under 3 minutes per installer to recompile it) and use koepi's xvid.ax
@cipher:
it'll auto uninstall any other xvid build on the system that used nsis just like koepi's does. i dont include stats reader or any of the other things koepi does tho, if you want those just copy the exe's onto your desktop or whatever. i may consider adding them if i get enough of a call for it.
i was giving out an xvid.dll but it was just too painful, i kept getting messages about how do i install this so i resorted to this.

What cpu do you run? What build did you download? What does it say if you hit about instead of configure? (the number and platform thingie)

Just finished talking to OBcecado on irc, if a build fails for you try the i486 build, i put it up as well for compatability incase gcc is too stupid for its own good.

@gamr
Can you use LZMA compression for NSIS, then I think size will be much smaller. Its available with cvs update.

Actually, you could do the same before, they just changed the label to 3D so it was more noticable.

Im getting a crash while attempting to install xvid 1.0beta. The crash occurs while the install program is trying to register xvid.ax . The crash happens on every build I have tried out (both Gamr and koepi).

Here is the the two crash logs produced by XP's crash notice (apologize if it is kinda big but I dont have any webspace handy at the moment.)

Hello,
is the athlon binary on this site faster than the 'normal' releases on koepi's homepage?
gamr
10th December 2003, 17:32
koepi's should be faster, he uses icl to compile, not gcc. i tweak gcc as far as i can without causing buggy builds but my speeds wont match koepi's. the reason for my site is to have builds the instant someone updates something in xvid instead of waiting for a build that could be a week away.

just curious, have you tried building with gcc 3.4?
Human_USB
10th December 2003, 20:42
Your bandwidth bill is going to be HUGE if you don't run it off you own server and just DNS it. :eek:
gamr
11th December 2003, 13:21
gcc 3.4 i cant test due to the fact that its mingw's gcc that i have to compile and as far as i can see they havnt released a 3.4 yet that i could compile up to test, i am using the latest available gcc's that i can tho.
as for bandwidth, the site is sitting on a 10mbit pipe, its a non issue

Hi gamr,
thank You for your Builds. You were the one who gave us the first build that is supported by ESS-chip-based DVD-Players!
Could You please implement the "xvid.ax" from koepis PreBeta3-Vers?
It's downloadeble from his website. Thank You very much

Anyone who picked up a build between 200312172000 and 200312181940 is likely to have non-working 2pass due to a forgotten patch with the new 2 pass stuff. Check gamrs site for an update shortly (after the next 20 minute cvs check...). :)

download is working...
