View Full Version : Problem with "big 3" and The Time Machine

I finally got around to using the "big 3" guide on this site, however I seem to have a problem:

after using ifoupdate on the files with the reauthored vob's, and playing the dvd with powerdvd, i noticed that the chapters for the main movie are completely screwed up. The movie (95mins) only seems to last 45mins (i'm not sure if the whole movie is there, as the end of the 45mins shows the end of the movie...). Also, the selecting a chapter from the menu doesn't work either (except for the first few chapters). Perusing through the encoded file shows that everything seems to be there, so i'm assuming I screwed up somewhere during the authoring process, but i'm just not sure where :(

I would suggest to start the whole thing again ...the chapters are extrated to a file during the doitfast4u process ..so something must have gone wrong ..during that process......just get the latest versions of all your softwares...there have been many updates.....good luck ..

I'll put money on the problem being you did ifoupdate wrong!!

The amount of times I have updated the original ifo instead of the authored one is scary!

The fact that your chapters seems to start OK but then gets screwed is a dead ringer for this error, seen it many times.

whoa you're right...i DID update the original ifo's (i didn't use the ones scenarist made for me). If I remember correctly, that's what doom9's guide said to do! :(

So, what i'm supposed to do after scenarist is *KEEP* the ifo's scenarist creates and just run ifoupdate on them?

Thanks for the useful tip :) (too bad I have to start over though, I was running low on space and deleted all the created files :()

Hehe, the guides are correct, it's just a little misleading.

Yes, keep the IFO's that scenarist generated, these are the 'authored IFO path' and make sure you have copied the orignal IFO's (rip em again if you have to) and put them with the scenarist generated VOB's.

The IFO, BUP files and ..._0.VOB files are always small, so you won't need much disk space to make a copy of them (I know you won't be making that mistake again now, heh). Don't worry about copying the new VOBs, just move 'em, you can't screw them up.

Get into a routine of copying everything into a 'final' directory, do it this way every time. Once you've done a few, it'll be second nature.

you may want to check out my ifoupdate method at http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63841 :logfile:

I believe this to be the easiest method, but use whatever works for you!

:helpful: Chubmeister: Glad you got it figured out. And your assistance with others is appreciated.
