I was wondering if there was a way to demux the audio from the video while still in the dv format. i want to change bthe video to dvd compliant mpeg2 but i want to keep the audio as pcm because it is much better then mpeg 2 audio also by demuxing i can also change the audio to dts or dolby digital even though in two channel srereo i am probably better off with the pcm

Almost all DV editing applications should have an option to save a WAV file from the video. If your source DV is type-2, then you can open it in VirtualDub and "Save WAV". If it is type-1, you need to use the DV editing app like Adobe Premiere, Ulead MediaStudio Pro, Ulead VideoStudio, Pinnacle Studio, ...
