Hey all!

This my first time posting on this forum so be nice :sly: I am not sure if this is in the right area but I wasn't sure what else to post it under.

Here is my ?tion:

I got a MPEG movie and I want to burn it on a DVD+R cd so that I can watch it on either my Ps2 or my home dvd player. Now I think the mpeg file was a vcd but I am not sure. The movie itself is 1.4 gigs and the picture itself is really small like 1/4 the size of a full screen movie.

If I can do this what program do you suggest for burning the movie and /or how do I convert to from vcd to a playable file? I tried using the software that came with my burner to make a vcd but it just kept crashing.

(Also if I have a non-vcd movie but a full 700 meg divx movie could I burn that and play it on my home dvd player as well?)

Sorry for all the ?tions but again I am new to burning dvd's.

Thanx

1st: For the mpeg go to the Doom9 site (http://www.doom9.org) downloads section and download a copy of dvd patcher. Open your mpeg file in dvd patcher and on the right it will give you enough info to know how to proceed. It will tell you if it is pal or ntsc, size, bitrate, and audio freq. We need to know this to answer your questions. On the Doom9 guides site there is a excellent guides for converting mpg1 and mpg2 files to dvd compliance.

2nd: No. You need to encode this to a dvd compliant mpg2 first. And then using your new file use a authoring program to put into a dvd compliant format (ifo, bup and vob files) Then and only then can you burn it to a dvd.

Unless you want to make a lot coasters, I suggest you go to the guides section (http://www.doom9.org) and do a little reading on dvd standards, authoring and burning. Believe me, it will save you a lot of grief.

what program do you suggest I use for dvd authoring?
Oh btw here are the specs for my movie:

Filesize:1650520068
Sequenceheader found
size: 480x576
Aspectratio:4:3
framerate: 25.00
bitrate:2450000

Can you tell me what settings I need to change to make this movie into full screen?

Thanks for your help btw. It's really confusing for me

www.pegasys-inc.com

download TMPGencoder and run it, just click on the convert to dvd button. (seperate video and audio)
that'll give you the correct mpv+mp2 files
download TMPG dvd author to make a menu and convert to VOBS
burn it.

all dead easy, all proggys free for 30 days.

TMPGENc can convert my mpeg files so that they can be burnt on DVD+R right? how do i go about converting them? i have 3 mpeg files that total 1.5 GB.

You could also try TMPGEnc DVD Source Creator - pretty much the same as TMPGEnc but specifically designed to convert any source to DVD compliant MPEG2. Sonic Foundry's DVD Architect also does this.
