I have written this guide to explain how I rejoined the MOVIE files from a DVD that was split to 2 discs. I have tried to explain this the best I can.
Please note that this guide is for rejoining JUST THE MOVIE. Your final disc will NOT have any menu's/extras. This is EXACTLY how I rejoined 1 of my six DVD's that were split to 2 discs using IFO edit.
In this example I was doing MONSTERS INC so the files for that are VTS_13_1.VOB, VTS_13_2.VOB etc. Your files might be VTS_01_1.VOB or VTS_02_1.VOB so I will use XX to indicate the number. We will also refer to 2 different folders, these are, Disc1 Folder & Disc2 Folder.
Software needed:
DVD DECRYPTER (Optional)
IFO EDIT 0.92 (Optional)
IFO EDIT 0.95
VOB EDIT
DVD BURNING SOFTWARE (E.G. NERO)(Optional)
POWER DVD (To Check The Files Play OK)
CLONE DVD
Now the reason I say that some pieces of software are optional is because:
1. You don't have to use DVD Decrypter to copy the movie files from your discs to your hard drive, but if you don't know which files on your discs are the movie files then DVD Decypter will select them automatically. Otherwise you can just copy & paste them to your HDD.
2. IFO Edit 0.92 uses its own settings when using the 'Create IFOs' button at the bottom of the IFO window, whereas version 0.95 asks you to select your settings, but if you don't know what the settings should be (As I didn't) then your stuck. If you do know then its fine to use ver 0.95
3. Nero may not be needed, depending on what Output Method you choose
in CloneDVD.
Here is the guide:
STEP 1: Place your first disc into your DVD-ROM and then open DVD DECRYPTER. This will auto highlight the movie files. Make sure that 'FILE F' in the 'MODE' menu is ticked in order for it to show the movie files in the window on the right. As you see your movie VOB's & IFO files will be highlighted. Now we don't need the IFO file so hold down your CTRL Key and click the IFO file to de-select it. Now copy your movie VOB's to your hard drive by clicking the DVD>HD symbol. Take note where it copies them to.
Once your movie VOB's are on your hard drive do the same with disc 2.
Remember your copying each disc to a separate folder. Once both disc are done we need to join them.
STEP 2: Now open Disc1 Folder and rename ONLY THE LAST file so the 2 or 3 becomes 001. So if your file is VTS_XX_2.VOB, change the 2 or 3 or whatever it is to 001, so it becomes VTS_XX_001.VOB. Now CUT it and PASTE it into Disc2 folder. Now rename ALL of the VOB's in there so they follow on from the one you just pasted in. So you will have for e.g VTS_XX_001.VOB, VTS_XX_002.VOB etc.
Now open VOB Edit, click 'Open' at the bottom and select the 1st VOB thats in Disc2 folder. (The one you renamed to VTS_XX_001.VOB. and pasted into the folder). This will then list the file details on the left. Now click 'EDIT' at the top and from the menu choose 'Join Clips'. A box will open which will be showing the files listed in Disc2 folder.(The 001,002 etc). DON'T change the file name that its going to create. Now click 'Save' and a box will appear asking for the first VOB ID. This can be found at the top of the file details on the left. For e.g. (00000000 [Navigation Packs] [VOB: 1]). Enter whatever the VOB number is. Click OK and let it start joining the
files. Once finished you will have your new files named VTS_XX_1.VOB VTS_XX_2.VOB etc. Now look again in Disc1 folder and whatever the number of the last file is, rename your newly joined files to follow on. So if in Disc1 folder you have VTS_XX_1.VOB & VTS_XX_2.VOB then rename the new files to VTS_XX_3.VOB etc etc. Then CUT ALL files from
Disc1 folder and PASTE into Disc2 folder. All the 001, 002 etc files can now be deleted so all you have are your NEW joined files and your Disc1 folder should be empty. Now we need to create IFO files.
STEP 3: Open IFO Edit.92 and click the 'Create IFOs' at the bottom.
It will be asking for VOB files. Select the first VOB file in Disc2
folder. The window that opens up will be saving a 'VIDEO_TS_IFO'.
Do not change this. Now click save and this will create new IFO's into Disc2 folder. When this has completed you will have 4 new files
with your VOB's. VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VTS_01_0.BUP & VTS_01_0.IFO. NOW PLEASE NOTE: The 2 new VTS files will automatically be named 01. If your VOB files are also 01 then don't rename the 2 VTS files, but if your VOB's are anything else, like 02,03 or even 13 as mine were then rename the 2 VTS files to match the VOB number. Now at this point I found that the new files don't always play with PowerDVD and if they don't then it won't play on your standalone player. (On the TV).
STEP 4: Now open IFO Edit.95, click open, and then select your VTS_XX_0.IFO file that has just been created in step 3. Your file information will open up. Now click VOB EXTRAS at the bottom and an options window will appear. Under the options make sure that the following are ticked.
Strip Streams
Correct Vob-Unit(Navigation Pack)pointers in VOB-files
Correct original IFO files
Create new IFO files. (Movie Only)
Remove P-UOps
Remove Macrovision
Adjust Vob-Unit pointers
Adjust Audio/Subp point.
Now make sure that the 'VOB Size' is 1GB. Leave everything else un ticked. Now in your 'Destination Directory' choose where you want to save the files. Disc1 folder should be good as that is now empty. Now click OK and a Stream List window will open. Untick the audio for the subtitles...usually the lower one on the list. At the bottom MAKE SURE 'Correct IFO Tables' is ticked. Now click Strip It. After 15-20 mins your Brand New movie files are done.
Now just 1 last thing at this stage...Re-open IFO Edit and open up your VIDEO_TS.IFO thats just been created in the folder you chose. Now click 'Get VTS Sectors' at the bottom. Now just click OK to all
the windows that appear. These files should now play in PowerDVD, but even if they do, they will probably still be too big for one disc. So this is where we need CloneDVD. This will transcode the files so that they will fit onto 1 disc and you will NOT lose quality. Transcoding takes about 20 mins. If this is needed then rename the folder you chose for the files to VIDEO_TS
STEP 5: Open CloneDVD and select 'COPY DVD TITLES' (The top Option of the 3 listed). In your next window select your VIDEO_TS folder with the movie files in. Click NEXT and here you can choose what audio/subtitles you want to keep. If you don't know what is what then it's best to leave things alone. Click NEXT and here will be your OUTPUT METHOD. If you chose 'DVD FILES' this will transcode your files to the folder you select in the Output Directory, but you will then need NERO BURNING to burn the files to a blank DVD. If your chose
'DVD WRITER' then this will transcode the files into the Clone Temp folder, then write them straight onto a blank DVD Disc.
NOW I HOPE THIS GUIDE CAN BE UNDERSTOOD AND YOU GET THE RESULT YOU WANT. I DID, AND I WILL TRY TO HELP ANYWAY I CAN IF YOUR NOT SURE.

with your VOB's. VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VTS_01_0.BUP & VTS_01_0.IFO. NOW PLEASE NOTE: The 2 new VTS files will automatically be named 01. If your VOB files are also 01 then don't rename the 2 VTS files, but if your VOB's are anything else, like 02,03 or even 13 as mine were then rename the 2 VTS files to match the VOB number. Now at this point I found that the new files don't always play with PowerDVD and if they don't then it won't play on your standalone player. (On the TV).
