Saving in .mp4

Is there any plans for VirtualDub about the MP4 container? AFAIK the specs are done and it could be implemented, but I'm guessing about the licensing issues. Come to think of it, it doesn't save in any of the MPEG containers right? Hmm...

Exactly. So far all mpeg containers (at least 1/2) are free for reading, but not for writing.

I believe MPEG-1 is free for writing.

In fact, I am pretty sure MPEG-1 is free for reading/writing, while MPEG-2 is not free for either (they don't really make an issue about licensing fees for reading MPEG-2, though).

well, asf reading is for example already supported in vdm (although not in the official builds)
i guess the licensing issues are not that big, the bigger problem is more to find someone who wants to host such builds :D
