Multiples for crop

Here is my question:For DVDRip, when I crop and not resize,if I use multiple of 16 or 8 or 4 or 2,this change has an effect on quality? if yes, whoseever?? thank you for your responses :)

PS:I use DivX 5.1.1 or VP6 and avisynth 2.5.3
