hi everybody...
first i want to say that i appreciate this board a lot because you guys helped me solving a lot of problems & through some other issues. and i found a lot of posts about getting too samll files but my issue is a little bit different i think.
i encoded a lot of movies with guardian knot in xvid. i´m a quality junk so i´m still using the highest settings if possible. after working through two pdfs (one from koepie and another one in german, unfortunately don´t remember the name yet) i´m very satisfied with my rips. but something strange happens a few days ago. i´m not sure if this is a guardian knot or an xvid issue so i will post it here because i think it belongs to the code.
i tried to decode a 90 min movie with my normal xvid settings (6, mpeg, vhq4, qpel on and some other stuff which was recommended) for a 2 cd rip, so bitrate was about 1200/1300 and the videofile should be near 1,1 gb in size (i don´t remember exactly, but those were the rough gk settings). accidently i pulled the resolution "shifter" a little bit too much to the left so gknot told me the quality was about 200% or higher. after that vdmod started encoding with average 10-15 frames per second which was above normal than my other rips i did before (average encoding 4 - 6 fps).
after vdmod finished i searched for this 1,1 gb avi but i couldn't find it, the only file i saw was about 260 mb big. a few months ago i had similar problems when getting a too small file but this situation was completly different. because this quality was awesome!!! of course it did not reach the quality of a 2cd rip but i started thinking about putting two movies on one cd ( keeping in my mind that i have to add the audio track later ) so i tried another rip with another movie. well this time it was not so cool quality but watching it on tv i've had no problems with it.( btw it was 120 minute movie, told gknot to make a 1 gb file and i got a 312 mb avi!!! )
did anybody make some similiar experiences???
ciao,
