I know to use mp4creator.
e.g. mp4creator -c=c:\test.avi test.mp4
mp4creator -c=c:\test.aac test.mp4
it's ok and can play.
But i want to broadcast it in helix server,realone does not support
Why?helix server can broadcast .mp4.
I mean:how i convert *.avi to *.mp4 that can be broadcasted in
helix server without reecoder.
sorry for my poor english,for it's not my native languish
thanksI

Hi Garfield
First of all you will need an avi which includes mpeg-4 compatible streams (dont use b-frames!)
than you need to use the -hint option in mp4creator (i guess -optimize cant hurt too) to make the file isma compliant

this time ,I do it using a movie without B-frames,I have analysed it.
and i try two ways
first: mp4creator -H -c=e:\test.avi test.mp4
second:use mp4ui (optimize ,isma compliant)
but realone still can't play it
every time it says:video/X-RN-MP4
but i can play it using realone locally.
why?

sorry cant help you than anymore, i am no streaming specialist
i can only you tell you to search around on the mpeg4ip site, they have some guides there (also try their cvs (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/mpeg4ip/mpeg4ip/doc/) and their forum)
you can also try another muxing tool (for example mp4box (http://gpac.sourceforge.net/auth_mp4box.php))

@bond
Why no b-frames?
I've never had issues with MP4+B-frames.
Even Quicktime plays them back fine. Arn't B-frames MP4-ISO compatible? (Advanced Simple Profile):confused:
@Garfiled
Tried muxing with 3ivX & Graphedit.

Take you AVI, drop it on graphedit
then use the 3ivx MP4 Muxer to mux the AVI -> MP4
.avi -> AVI Splitter => 3ivx Media Muxer -> .mp4
Take your MP4, drop it on QT6, then export it to MPEG4, with pass through on the video+audio, and set a stream hinting.
Darwin Streaming Server et al should then be able to stream your file

Would that work with 6Ch AAC sound?

I assume it would
*BUT*
And its a big one ;)
QT6.4 recognizes multichannel AAC but it does not play it! Not even a peep.
My assumption is that the MP4 Parser/Muxer in QT has no problems with Multichannel AAC, the only problem is the AAC decoder. When doing pass-through the audio decoder is not involved.
But2: If QT doesn't play multichannel audio... is there really much point in streaming it to RTSP MP4 players?
Early betas of QT6.4 did have multichannel audio support and it was apparently pulled...
