Hi, I am looking for an audio editing tool, so I can easily merge/cut/convert audio files. At this moment I am using an old version of Creative Wave Studio, that was within my old PC's Soundblaster drivers (6-7 years old software). The program is a "bit outdated", so I'd like to find a substitute (If possible freeware)

Thanks

echooff is correct, BeSweet is a very powerful editor, and make sure to take a look at besplit as well, also on http://dspguru.doom9.net. You can get a good idea of besweet/besplit's capabilities by reading the audio faq and besweet faq, stickies in this forum.

If these tools are not what you're looking for please be more specific on what you'd like to accomplish.

I already know Besweet. I use it normally to convert DVD tracks into ogg files. About BeSplit, that is not what I am exactly looking for.

Creative wave editor (what I am currently using), allows to open an audio file (only raw wav as it is an old app) and shows the waveform (like an oscilloscope), so you can cut, copy, add echo, modulate and easily locate the part of the signal you want to edit (even if you don't know the exact location but an approximate one) ... That is, I'd like a graphical application. Anyway I will try to obtain at home an screen from "Creative Wave Editor" and post it, so you may better see what I want.

Thank you.

One solution (which nearly everbody owns but wouldn´t use  ) is the Nero WAV Editor, which is part of Nero Burning ROM (5.5 or 6.0). It supports (via freeware plugins (http://neroplugins.cd-rw.org/)) almost all common file formats and also has the same features as the good old Creative Wave Editor (I remember this one :D )

Give em a try!!!

Try Acoustica MP3 Audio Mixer (link (http://www.acoustica.com)) or ExpStudio's Audio Editor (link (http://www.expstudio.com)). They are very easy to use and probably exactly what your looking for. You could even try Sony's Sound Forge (link (http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com)). It's not as easy to use but is still a good program.

There are many out there, it's just a matter of finding the one you like. You could go here (http://www.download.com) and do a search (in audio&video) for editors or mixers. I do all the time to see whats new.
