Capture to uncompressed format how?

yeah i wanna capture to an uncompressed format.....cause i want to
2 pass the uncompressed file.......so i get better quality......is this possible?......

i have a Asus GF4 Ti4400....it supports TV in and out and all that , i have captured images but they suck......

use iuvcr and capture to uncompressed avi. OR, capture to huffyuv which is compressed, but losslessly, and will use up far less disc space.

i got the prog i got it all goin cept......my Video Card (GF4 Ti4400) has a terrible pic....
its very unfocused and blurry......output is great except for input.

any hints?

are you using svideo or composite?

have you set it to your tv standard? (i'm in the uk, so i'm pal-i)

i don't really know what you mean by blurry though. please take a few snapshots and upload them somewhere for us to have a look at.

What are you using to view the raw capture? Some (many) media players choke on playing uncompressed (or huffyuv compressed) files.

yea it does choke a bit........but what i do is compress it to DivX V5.1.1 and 2 pass it......it runs fine in DivX mode (doesnt choke).....i encode it at a bitrate of 6666 and it comes out unfocused and blurry........the image im trying to get is clear and crisp......im guessing TV input sux on GeForce or Graphics Cards?

im using composite....also the video cable is a 5 metre 10 base network cable (CoaX).....with 1 gold male phono on each end...im not sure what PAL mode im supposed to choose as there are few different PAL modes.

Attachments are "temporarily" disabled on the forum due to technical difficulties. (It may be temporary, but it's been many months, and there is no quick fix expected.) I've put a .zip of s8n's jpg images <deleted link>, as it is slightly over 500k, and attachments are limited to 200k. It'll be there for about a week.

All that stuff in those images is perfectly normal. That's what it looks like when you have a shitty input source (Cable TV). There's really no way you'll be able to get it any better looking than that. Maybe use a signal booster or something.

Your computer's monitor is A LOT higher resolution than your TV, so you don't notice any of those things that are messed up. If you were to burn that to a DVD, then watch it on there, you probably wouldn't notice any of that stuff.

If you have a really long coax cable hooking it to your computer it might be a better idea to use a shorter cable, or better yet, just an RCA input if you have one.

I have my cable hooked to my VCR, and the RCA cable on the VCR going to the input on my tuner card. Then I just change the channels with the VCR, and get the audio and video also on my computer.

Also, what's with all that black space arond the edges? I always capture in 640x480 and don't get that when I resize to 720x480 for DVD conversions. I dunno what I'm talking about really though.
