View Full Version : Encoder Comparisons?

I have been having a look at some of the different MPEG2 encoders, mainly CCE, Main Concept and TMPGenc, and even downloaded and trialed them. (fun stuff) :)

I have also done some searching around the good 'ol web and found some comparison tests, but no site I can seem to find seems to have done a comparison of recent versions of MPEG2 encoders.

I would be very much interested if someone could point me to any such comparison.

(Or maybe the more experienced people here could perform one for the benefit of us n00bs? Cos to be honest I have no real idea about comparison or feature testing....) :D

Well it's been a week and 142 views, surely someone must be able to point out some recent comparisons?

thanks auenf and clickit. FYI I had already seen the comparo at dvdrhelp, but it didn't seem all that recent to me as it was using TEMPGenc 12a & j codecs?

That is that most people are talking bullshit. as there is no recent comparison of encoders.. Or that the subject is now too large for a simple test. You would need to say lets test for their use as good for a specific task eg huffy to vob or huffy to mpeg1.
