Hi guys!
I have some problems.
I’m truing to capture VHS video from my VCR in PAL. In the software that comes with the capture card, there is no option to set the output resolution so when I start to capture the resulting video is 320 X 240 resolution. When I set the codec to Huffy or MPJEG the resolution is 352 X 288. The software does not giving me option to set to output resolution. Is there something wrong???
After that, I tried to capture with VirtualDub following the tutorial on this site. But when capture starts, after couple of seconds my computer is resetting. Somebody know why?
I have 30 GB disc with NTFS partition. Is it the NTFS?
One more thing. Is the real capture resolution of VHS 320 X 240 , and is the VirtualDub output resolution setting just resizing (enlarging) the picture during capture?
Thanks.

well that's commercial capture software. they are made to work on as many computers as possible and keep the hardware requirements down. therefore they don't let you choose a higher resolution!

seems like some kind of system instability. have you ever tested your ram? or do you have occasional crashes when encoding video otherwise?

no...

well, the 'real' resolution of VHS is hard to define, but it is definitely not 320x 240 ... it is somewhere in the region the DVD resolution, plus/minus overscan. if you search this forum, you'll find some interesting (and heated debate) about the topic. furthermore it has been covered in the capture guide :)
