Anyone tried to rip Hulk (DivX5.0.5)?

When I do an Enc 1.0.3 run to determine compressibility, with 2x 700 MB CDs, 192 Kbps mp3 and 720x384 framesize, the result is an improbable 312 % (a good result is 75-80 %). I have never seen a 1st pass % figure anything like as high.

So at that framesize, even a 1x 650 MB CD rip should give excellent quality (though note BPP < 0.1) - again, seems improbable for a 130+ min movie.

Is there something peculiar with Hulk that makes its Enc result invalid? :confused:

I am doing the same movie at the moment ;) coincidence...

Anyway mine seems to be fine for a 1CD 700Mb file with encoding at 598kbps, 128 vbr-mp3..

I'm using DivX 5.1 though.

Do you use Enc to determine number of CDs/best resolution?

How do you determine quality?

Nothing too technical, I'm only a Newvie really speaking. I just check the bitrate and the length of the movie to have a guestimate of how it will turn out.

I do the compression check then adjust the movie to provide the best quality and make sure it'll still be the size I determined.

It was strange though that you had such a high % first time around though.
