Is there a way to apply some sort of dynamic range compression on a wav file (or a mp3). I got this movie that has the character voices too low compared to the background sound (like music). For example when a car passed by in the street while a character is talking its very tough to understand what they say because the volume of the car is too high. It sound like something wrong was done at the AC3->MP3 conversion. I don't have the ac3, only the avi sound (mp3).

So anyway I was wondering if there was somekind of tool that will make the sound more balanced between the voices and the rest. I played a little bit with Adobe Audition and there is a menu called "Dynamics Processing" that will maybe do the job but there is pretty much no explanation in that menu and the help file is pretty much useless.

So any help would be usefull. Thanks.

I don't know of any way of implementing DRC for wav or mp3, but if you don't have the DVD we can't help you here, as per forum rule #6.

You can use ogo's "ReClock" Audio Renderer, in the properties you can use DRC on the fly during the playback of your movie.
