Is there a program that does this? Because when I burn these mpegs as a vcd my dvd player doesnt get past the broken/bad frames and just stops.

You can use VirtualDubMod for this. There is an option called error mode ( Under video tab ) to find the error in video file.
Look here : [http://virtualdubmod.sf.net]

If you dig around in the DVB forum you will find some programs that repair broken MPEG streams. Some work better than others.

I also suffer form that problem at times. What I do is to rip the mpeg file from the image before burning with VCDEasy. If the is something wrong with it, VCD stops before the end of the stream.

It's a hassle and I have not been able to spot why this happens, but I know that when VCDEasy gets it, it's OK. Much better than screwing a CD.

To fix the stream I just encode again. :(

arg, its so damn annoying. I make a vcd-dvd and then a broken frame fucks everything up and i have to redo it all over again.

I have found this may have something to do with VCDXBuild not liking too full or too defragmented drives.

When using DVD2SVCD, I just need to rebuild the images instead of doing it all over again.

I mean when i actually make a dvd with tmpg dvd author. If there is a bad frame say in file 3 at 15 minutes and the file is 45min long then it will just freeze at 15 minutes and you cant get past it because after the bad frame nothing was encoded and you just have to move on to file 4.

If you actually have a broken vcd mpeg, you will also find that most tools for demultiplexing will stop at the broken frame, discarding the remainder of the file.
On tool which is often able to completely demux corrupted files is vcdcut (http://www.seller-club.com/~vcdcut/).
