I am having a problem with audio playback. The audio there is fine however the volume of it is so low. What can I do to up the volume? I already have my speakers turned up as loud as they can go, 4.1 surround, and yet I still can't get the sound up to any kind of volume that makes it worth listening to.

Is it mp3 or ac3 ? if it is encoding from ac3 -> any other format a hybrid gain will give you more louder sound.
"BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "Input.ac3" -output "what you like.mp3" -logfilea "D:\BeSweet.log" ) -ota( -hybridgain ) -boost( /b2=5 ) -lame( --scale 1 -p --alt-preset 128 )
Or you can manually use a sound editor to increase overall volume.(stereo)

the thing is I've already made the rip. So what I'm asking is now that i've made it do I have to go and redo it again? Or can I just get some plugin for the media player or something like that that will boost the gain?

It depends what format your audio is in (you didn't tell that). BeSplit by DSPGuru has the option to post-gain MP3 and MP2 files.

Download Reclock and increase the gain during playback. Will work in any DS player.

Matrix Mixer also has similar option for increasing playback gain.

Hi, well if you aren't satisfied you surely have to make some modifications. But what bothers me is your story line. The reason why it bothers me is the fact that it gives me a thousands of clues. But if I did knew some details I could try to help you out. For instance how do you playback the file. Is it via a laptop? If yes openup the laptop volume. Is it from DVD, perhaps you have an audio setup were you can setup some equilizers or gain inputs. If that doesn't work you definetely need to change your recording methods. Perhaps you want to share it with us. It will clear a lot of things out, so that you won't deal with it again in the future.
For your information.

I use windows media player with ffdshow. I have a soundblaster extigy, and altec lensing 4.1 surround. Both turned up all the way. Winamp has gain adjustments but not media player that i know of. Does ffdshow work with winamp player?

@toiletduck
FFDshow does not, but DCDSPfilter (http://dcdspfilter.corecodec.org/) has its own built in DSP plugins and can use any of your winamp DSP effects as well, along with visualizations. Great filter for DirectShow audio. :)

Using adobe audition i was able to open the audio from the .avi file. Then I was able to not only put a boost on the file, but I was also able to do a light noise and his reduction. Sounds much better! Is there anyway that I can take the new audio and have it put back onto the .avi file? If so I'm gonna go and redo my old movies that I saved up.

Hi,
Glad to see you improving a lot on the matter. Sonic Soundforge Xp 5 or later will do the trick for you. When you load an Avi , you also get to see the pictures of the movie. They are projected above the waveform. It can save it back to AVI again.
