Moderator feel free to move this to gKit4u name thread.. sorry.
My old account seems to have bben lost so I've been waiting 5 days to post. I don't care much for any of the previous suggestions, not that they such, they're just a little off base from your guildlines.
Someone just posted the obvious as far as I'm concerned.
GKnot Xpress
Shows the relation to it's parent program, and express' the "ease of use" and the X because of couse Xvid.
In fact I've started some conceptual ideals on a new graphic for you.
and plan to contact you about providing some hosting as a mirror for your file. I have 11 domains mostly unused.
Wanted to say, I love GKnot Xpress (what I call it) I've gotten away from ripping because of all the complex setting and trouble getting consitant results. The tool I always used, long after everyone forgot it was FairUse, despite it being so slow and not doing audio. I just want to thank you for putting out this quick simple tool. I'm back in business, ripping and striping. With over 115 DVD purchases in the last 6 months, I have a lot to do and GKnot Xpress is gonna do it.
Thanks again...
I would'nt be too distressed about the poll involvement, your still in beta, no rush. You really don't want to jump into something that might want to change anyway (example adding GKont Xpress to your poll) :) I also think that there are a lot of veterans here who are already comfortable with the more complex tools, so it's fair weather rippers (like me) and newbies (like me) are'nt generateing that great of traffic. Be assured though... that my friends and co-workers that are seeing my 700MB rips are amazed and asking questions, so keep up the great job.
On the topic of Development: I've noticed a couple issues, one with audio and one with file splitting.
System Specs:
ASUS A7V8X w/ AthlonXP 2500+ Barton
1GB RAM Windows XP Pro / Stripped with XPLite
Very lite in other apps except possibly Easy CD/DVD 6
I've installed Vegas Video 4, and when I attemp to open a GKnot avi
It will not open the video, it shows that it's trying but never does.
It reports insanely long track time. This is fixed by install the Gordian Knot Codec Pack 1.5 to install the divx 3.11alpha codec over what it says is a newer version. Then the avi opens fine and fast but without an audio track. just beeps like morase code.
I can open the tracks from the tmp files as a seperate vid and audio tracks. Not sure if this is something to do with codecs or the muxing. If anyone knows something please share.
With the 0.33 alpha I selected a "custom" 1400MB file and found that it had split it into 2@700MB perhaps if I selected 1399 instead. Might have assumed the predefined from the size.
I used 0.37 alpha to do a max quility w/ 192 CBR MP3 and found that a good chunk of frames toward the end of TwoTowers Ext was just black frames.
Given the time to do these rips I've not attempted to do this with the latest to see if it would replicate but might in the next couple of days.
My goal here is to make a single high quality track from part 1 and 2 of TT extended, to then re-encode with Vegas.
Just thought I'd drop a note, the file split issue on custom size, is the one that should be attributable specifically to GKnot Xpress. Others might just be my setup or system or Vegas.
Again thanks for the awesome tool. I look forward to every new release of GKnot Xpress...
