ok in tmpg i transcoded divx video to mpg2. but all outputted files didnt work. (i have had success before) no program would open them, the computer would just hang, and when i opened it in nero, the video would play up until a certain point then i would get an error (or none at all) and the program exits. so i reinstalled tmpg. now most of the time it wont encode at all, i will just get an error and it wont start encoding. sometimes it does work though and when it does it just makes faulty files like before... i do have all the proper codecs and everything and i can encode mpegs in nerovision but the quality is horrible compared to tmpg. but nero works stable.. what should i do? i could use rempeg to encode the files but i heard the quality is not so good? could the errors be because the vfw priority is at 2 in the environmental settings? help is appreciated. thank you.

I had a similar problem with Tmpgenc. My solution was to uninstall, manually delete all references it in the registry, re-install after rebooting. Until I go rid of the the registry settings and then rebooting prior to re-install, Tmpgenc kept refering to left over information during installation. This problem cropped up after I installed a unrelated piece of software. That software in still installed, but its initial installation messed me up. Hope this helps.
