N.B. The codecs i am using are DivX5.1.1b2 and nic's latest xvid build
The problem im having decoding DivX and Xvid video's, is the post processng. I've just bought a new PC [P4 3.2GHz 1GB DDRram], but i can't seem to get the results i was getting with my last [P4 1.3GHz 384SDram].
When i watched a DivX or Xvid video - in avi or ogm format, on my old machine, i could watch them with WMP9 and BSPlayer, with no jerkiness, sound delay, or blockiness. For example, if i played an Xvid .ogm file in WMP fullscreen, i'd open the file, make it fullscreen, and it would be full of tiny squares - like if i'd just resized a gif image file in phtoshop - and the lines would be jagged and alaised, but after a second or two (till the next I-frame?) the post processing would kick in, it would be like a sort of film covering the video (-making things clearer) and i'd would hardly be able to tell the difference between the original sized video and the enlarge one, i.e. it was now as crisp and defined, and lacking in blocks.
I have transfered some video files to my new machine, and watching them on here sucks...
In WMP when i try to play xvid files, fullscreen, the video expands to fill the whole screen, and then just when the controls bars disappear, the video resizes itself to a quarter of the screen, and the rest of the screen is black, and i cannot tell if any post processing is present. DivX files on the other hand resize to fit the whole of the viewing area, but seem to have no post-processing at all, its just like the seconds of video i saw on my old PC before the post pro. kicked in.
BSPlayer on the other hand plays all files fullscreen properly, but with audio out of since and no post processing visible.
WMP Classic, plays files fullscreen, audio synced, (the best so far) but with no visible post processing! (blocky, squares, alaised etc.)
- i know these files are deserve better playback because i am testing files that i saw on my old pc
Can any1 help ! It just seems a shame to waste my new processing power (bought specifically for video editing) !
