I have used this tool for quite a while and had no probs. I tried today to backup my cpy of The Bone Collector, but RA crashed on startup. I ripped with DVD Decrypter, mounted an image, the used DIF4U to rip to VTSs. All i stripped out was the subtitle languages (except Eng) in the main movie.
Everything goes well untill RA opens. It hangs for a few seconds then crashes. The log file says that it stops when it begins to process th demuxed files. Hopefully the log file is attached to this message.

Can anyone help?

Cheers

im have had problems crashes with Reauthorist, is very weird...i do everything right...but when the ripping finishes and reauthorist opens, so i can push the encode buton BANG it crashes..and doesnt let me do anything...so i was trying and trying...... and i did this
i demuxed every thing in my fisrt hard drive (i have 3 drives one for my sistem,
one for swaping and files, and one for dvd stuff like isos, capture dif4u ...etc etc)

so i got to think that maybe theres some problems when using the same drive where the iso of the movie is (since i used the hard drive for iso and capure for di4u).

in sum....try demuxing in another drive to see if that helps. it weird and ilogical but it worked for me. it reminds me of my ex girlfriend.

I was using a separate drive anyway. I don't get as far as being able to press encode - it crasges whilst reading the directory. Only happened on this one film so far though.Tried ripping again - same reskult. Have to Instant Copy this one I think....

ReAuthorist sometimes crashes for me if another program has a file open (locked) in the folders that ReAuthorist parses through.

Not sure if it is the same that you experience but if it is you should be able to solve it by just shutting down all programs (check the Tasklist in windows to make sure they are all actually closed) and then reopen ReAuthorist and select the same folder.

Make sure

1) Your dir name doesn't have spaces in it... that can cause issues
2) The IFO files truely exist and can be opened

Also you didn't strip out subs except english as it's finding other languages in the dir...

Hi, I wondered if you ever solved that crash problem.
It happens to me too, with log hanging at same line as yours

Found D_VTS_01_0\SUBTITLES\VTS_01_0.IFO

I have checked and I have not dirs with spaces... any ideas?

Thanks a lot,
Gemon

gemon,

unfortunately RA is no longer supported. i would strongly suggest you update to ScenaAid, as it is able to handle a lot of the more complex titles out there.
Beyond trying what D3s7 (in his younger days :p) already suggested, i am at a loss...

cheers

D_VTS_* is a numenu directory..

If numenu completed ok, delete this directory.... and RA should scan the dir ok

there might be a D_VMG dir too... - kill that if it's there

yes,
first of all thanks you all for your replies. Finally I could open reauthorist and play with it; i say 'play' because I only needed it to play with bitrates because I do not like automatic choices made by dif4u (basicly, I'd like to force an avg bitrate for the main movie instead of for the extras).
So D3S7, I know that it's better to use scenaid and indeed that's what I'm going to do, but AFTER bitrate modifications (by altering ccedata.txt file) reauthorist suggests me.

Hope to have clearly exposed my idea (i.e., set a fixed avg bitrate for main movie) and why i had to use reauthorist

thanks a lot again,
gemon

You'll be glad to know then that the current version of Scenaid in the works (1.5) had bitrate calcs that work in 90% of situations (only problems w/ irregular dvd's currently)

While the current beta is only visual for these, you can/could use it to modify your ccedata.txt file in replace of RA

This build will be out as soon as I'm confident it's stable (who knows.. maybe I'll finish the bitrate calcs by then)
