need help on converting

i have had a look around i may have missed something but being green and all the thing is i have a lot of films that are in dvx or outher typs like that .that i go from downloaded sights i can only play them on my pc i would like if i could to convert them back to dvd can any one point me in the right direction or is this just a lost course
