Hi!

I have some DVD movies which i need to backup. Well, they are pretty old and a somewhat mediocre quality... but still they will be put on a 4,7GB DVD-R and take only about 70% of it.
Now I have asked myself, can i take advantage of the other ~30% storage capability?

Let's say I put several .pdf word documents inside a folder like "backup", would my DVD Player still recognize that this is supposed to be a DVD Video disc, or would the player complain ?
How about rippers, would they recognize the DVD Structure? (I let the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS as it is)

Thanks for sharing your knowledge :)

You can place as much folders as you want on a DVD, but make sure that you leave the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders alone, and that the folders are placed physically after AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS (that means, drop them in Nero after AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS), because this may be required by certain players (while most players doesn't require the AUDIO_TS-folder at all).
The VIDEO_TS-folder has to be on the beginning of the disk in any case, as far as I know...
