Hello,

My Ricoh MP5125A has all of a sudden stopped reading from DVD-9. It also no longer successfully burns to DVD+R, CD-RW or CD-R, but it burns DVD+RW without fail. With the DVD-9 issue it reads from some of the silver coloured disks but not the gold ones.
I can only link it to two things:
1) I tried RITEK's DVD+Rs without success and from around this time I've had trouble. And
2)I flashed it with the latest RPc-1 1.64 firmware and then flashed it back after having problems with the RITEK media.

The errors are cyclic errors, bad reads, unidentified disks, no media in drive, the works. I've tried reflashing to all firmware versions but to no avail. It's out of warranty so I can't get it fixed (which because of flashing is void anyway.)

Does anyone have any ideas? I don't really want to buy a new burner if I can help it. Could it be due to a dirty lens? It hasn't been cleaned since I've had it.:o If so what's the best method of cleaning it? And if it is a dirty lens wouldn't it have trouble with DVD+RWs too?

Any help is appreciated.
Cheers.
