DVD-Audio Rips

Before i start to dig into this subject blindly, are there any guides out there on DVD-Audio ripping? All the normal rippers like Dycrypter, etc., want to just rip the video portion of the DVD and I don't see a way to rip the AUDIO_TS folder since there is no way to select that folder in the ripping programs (They all default to the VIDEO_TS folder) I have tried. I guess VStrip is my last hope, so I'll try that.

If anyone has any info on DVD-Audio ripping (not to be confused with DTS or AC3 streams - DVD-Audio is 96 kHz to 192 kHz in 24 bit audio - very accurate. This is way past AC3 and is even way past CD Audio which is 44.1 kHz 16 bit) it would be appreciated.

My plan is to tear into the DVD-Audio streams and see what I can do with it. I bet I can make some really accurate compressions with these streams since they won't contain errors or artifacts as found on a normal CD (not to mention that no one would stand for a stupid sound engineer on these things - the latest CD's I've seen have really sub par audio with way too high of recording volumes, etc., but DVD-Audio is not like this), but the first goal is to see if I can even extract a stream from an AOB (Notice - not a VOB as one would think but AOB instead). Anyway, i have many plans and experiments to try.

well,

if the encryption cannot be decoded,
then take your Soundblaster Audigy2, play the DVD-A.

The multichannel output is given out analogue 5.1.

So, iirc,
there is an Audigy2, or other soundcards,
which can record (in good quality) 5.1 or multichannel analoguely.

So, what do you think about my idea of backupping your DVD-A's on HD, as 5.1 wave eg. ?

Of course, if you have the uncompressed 5.1 wave on HD, you can compress later to 5.1 dts, ac3, or AAC, Ogg, preferable upcoming MPC SV8 :)

or whatever Frank Klemm will work on hopefully.

I haven't bought yet an Audigy to play DVD-A, or the version with 5.1 analogue recording.
If owners of this soundcard or with similar capabilities could report about it, it would be fine.

However, most sound cards only offer 2Ch (not 6Ch) analog capture.
So in order to make your method work you would have to capture 2No tracks at a time over 3No passes and resync the 3No passes together!

That said I would be very interested to be learn of any audio capture cards that can capture more than 2No tracks at a time. Provided they don't cost a fortune?
