I have been using SP for several months and find that the images are sharp but there appears to be a haze over the images. Similar to a black and white photograph that has been shot through a low contrast lens.

Anyone else have this problem?

You would need to mention your source type and method.

Tape source is NTSC drop-rame DVCAM tape edited on AVID Xpress Pro system with Quick Time Reference files exported into SP.

DDogg, if more info is needed in order for you to form an opinion, please let me know the specifs and I will provide them.

Don, "SP" is too generic now that we have the 2.5, 2.66, and 2.67 series. We need the version. That's why I did the CCE template exercise (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64800). At least that template, or Rb's Progressive or interlaced template which is available in the same post gives us a comparison point for mutual discussion.

Especially with the 2.67 series, the settings in the quality tab can so radically effect your outcome that it is a near impossible task to even communicate with each other without a baseline template, or baseline settings being mentioned in detail.

Also, tracking the colorspace conversions are important. Most of us don't do quicktime, so that introduces another potential color conversion problem that we see so much of. What is the colorspace of the QT ref files? I am guessing rgb? If not, you are YUY 4:1:1 converting to 4:2:2 mpeg2? Doing a proper conversion? See why it is such a PITA to discuss it? :)
