AUDIO_TS folder question

Hey-
i have made a few backups of my DVD's, but i have made a few coasters as well.. The only diff i can see between the ones that work and the ones that dot is the presence of a folder called AUDIO_TS.. for some reason, any movie i copy that has this folder will not work in my home dvd player.. Works fine on the computer, but not on the stand alone player.
The obvious solution would be to just not place the AUDIO_TS folder on the copy, since the fodler is empty anyway, and i still have sound even if i dont add it...

Can anyone explain this to me? What's the deal with this folder?

Are you burning with Nero? I've seen posts here that certain versions of Nero burn the folders in the wrong order, which causes playback problems on some hardware.

i've done it with Nero and with Easy CD Creator . I'm currently sticking with Nero 6, and just dropping the audio_ts folder all together, since I do't own any audio DVD's..
Didn't know they made audio dvd's..

will have to google it and see what that's all about.

For compatibility reasons the folder should be there. Every commercial dvd has it because it's part of the dvd standard.

Actually, I've seen a number of retail DVDs that don't have an AUDIO_TS folder. I'm not sure what that says about DVD players that purportedly won't play DVDs that don't have an AUDIO_TS folder.

Anyway, for better compatibility I wouldn't use Nero. Try making an ISO image with Image Tools Classic and burning it with DVDDecrypter. That's widely reported here as the highest compatibility method, and I've never had a problem with it.
