Hi, @Gunslinger, and welcome to the forum.
:search:
By far the best use of time is to use the search button and avoiding "what's best" questions.
Since you waited 5 days to post that first question, you must be a very patient guy.

Try to search, plenty around there. See thread http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61411&highlight=divx+slowest
So only necessary to use slowest in last pass. I usually do a 4-pass.

@piscator - Hasn't the recommendation regarding that changed with DivX 5.1.1? I'm not sure as I don't really keep up with DivX anymore, but I do seem to remember reading it somewhere.

You're refering to the beta version? I didn't use that yet, because I like a stable encoding platform. What I read about it, is that they improved on the encoding times for all the speed settings, but for slowest it's still really slow :D But I don't see any reason why the method described in the thread (only last pass slowest) wouldn't be applicable anymore. btw, the results are great for me compared to faster encoding speeds.
@gunslinger. No problem. Enjoy your GKnot encodes!
