View Full Version : DTS or 5.1AC3? DTS to aac/vorbis via Besweet error

I was wondering, that if you had the option of choosing DTS or 5.1AC3 as your source, which would it be better to use?

I presume DTS because the DTS file is often larger, thus their is more information for Besweet to work with.

The only problem is that I can't seem to transcode DTS files.

I tried transcoding a DTS audio file into 5.1 HE-AAC using Besweet with Nero dlls.

I got an error message in a command prompt window that says

CreateFilter: Failed to create filter! hr=0x80040154

DShowErr: FAILED<hr=0x80040154> in CreateFilter<CLSID_IVAudioDecoder, &pIVIAudio>

The Besweet log file that was produced was for the last file I transcoded, which was AC3 NOT the DTS file that I was trying to transcode.

I'll post the logfile anyway,

I think you need azidts.exe and BeSweet.dll to transcode from DTS source. Please check doom9 download page.

I have both "azidts.exe" and "Besweet.dll" in the same folder as "Besweet.exe"

I was using OagMachine v0.1

I think I might need to install an InterVideo filter or something, I'm not sure. I haven't installed PowerDVD or WinDVD, could this be the problem?

the error you ran into was caused by the missing windvd platinum.
then, in order to transcode to 5.1aac, you would need BeSweet.dll v1.5b23 :o

I get the same thing and I have winDVD4 platinum installed and it works in WinDVD4 (though to me, it sounds worse than a 128kbps mp3).

Thanks for the replies

Unfortunately I don't have windvd platinum.

I am happily using Gabest's Media player classic.

Would there be a significant improvement if I were to use DTS instead of 5.1AC3 as the source?

which version of MPC, cuz I get an error in mine.

I'm currently using MPC 6.4.6.8 to view dvds, but I believe Dvd support has been working for quite some time now. Gabest tends to squash bugs immediately.

I use mpc for most media files except for some *.asf and *.wmv [occasional seeking and lag problems]

I downloaded 6.4.6.8, the latest one on sourceforge and it has the same issue. It says it failed to render, as if the intervideo audio filter didn't exist.

Only your own ears and equipment can tell you. But I highly doubt the difference could be called significant.

Are you sure you have WinDVD platinum? Is the DTS filter registered? Did you read the start of this thread ?

What files are needed from the WinDVD Platinum installation?
I have it installed and I could email the files to you guys if you like....if that is ok with the Mods?

For transcoding DTS with azidts you need three things:

1. BeSweet.dll.

2. ac3dtssrc.ax by Gabest.

3. iviaudio.ax from WinDVD 4.5 and above with installed WinDVD Platinum. The filter can usually be found somewhere like C:\Program Files\WinDVD\Common\Bin.

4. I think a problem can still occur: The switches -auto2ch and -auto6ch of azidts do not work if the filter version is not 4.5. You have to set the number of channels manually by -manualch.
