I've never had much luck with ffdshow and it's really not an issue for me, but I hear so much praise about it, I'd like to present a problem I've encountered. With a recent Xvid encoding I did:

Koepi's most recent "unstable" build
Motion Search Precision: 6
Quantization: MPEG
VHQ off
FourCC XVID
Maximum I-Frame interval 240
no extra options checked (qpel, chroma motion, etc,)

It will play back dandy with Nic's, Koepi's, or Umaniac's decoder, but not with ffdshow entirely. I spotted one or two scenes where bleeding was apparent. I tried all the different error correction options, and each IDCT mode. If somebody has some webspace, I'll gladly upload the clip where it bleeds in ffdshow, but not in other decoders, it's about 4.6 megs. As it is, I have no place to send it to. I'm curious about any comments/suggestions on this.

bleeding or blending?

Bleeding. The clip I have is of a man walking to the right as the camera moves sideways. When everything looks correct, you simply see the camera pan across. With ffdshow, you see a streak of pixels trail from a cabinet, which doesn't go away until the next I-frame.

have you tried changing the colourspaces that are used for playback in ffdshow.

it is possible on the codecs tab to set the filter to only use rgb yuv or whatever your graphix card can cope with.

also the idct thats used could be whats casusig the problem try a different idct.
