FairUse 0.33 is out

Changelog for FairUse 0.33 :

- huge improvement in encoding speed thanks to MMX optimized resizing code
- CPU-optimized memory access brings even more speed
- Further small speed improvement from SSE-optimized IDCT
- added project batch processing (use "Defer processing" on the encoding dialog, then "Defer project processing" on the project dialog)
- slightly changed the BeSweet command line to ensure optimal audio gain (solves the "low sound" some people reported)
- the "shutdown after encoding" feature should now work on Win98 systems (I can't test this myself because I haven't seen any Win98 system for ages)
- added external language files so that FairUse can be easily translated (please email me if you want to contribute to translation)
- added the ability to select several IFO chains to cache (no longer limited to one or all chains)
- intermediate files are now deleted when they're no longer needed (see FairUse.ini)
- added OggMedia and OggVorbis support (see FairUse.ini)
- added Matroska support (see FairUse.ini)
- added file splitting
- FU now comes packaged within a single EXE installer

For sure it would be fine...

I think I should just add AVS support, use VDub as a transcoding engine, and VobSub for the subtitles :rolleyes:

Maybe I'll replace the rip engine too with DVDDecrypter and while I'm at it, rename the tool FairUseItFast4U :p

More seriously, I will *not* add AVS support to FU, because FU was not designed for this, and there are tools like GK that *are* designed to achieve this kind of tasks.

Anyway, FU is open source software... :D

You seem to be following development of my new tool as well :)

P.S. if serious - ppl will always ask you for more stuff to do util you give up :) They seem to want all-in-one solution for every single problem they have...

It wasn't like I was demanding it... I've actively supported way too much tools etc., so I would never demand anything, let alone such a complicated feature. But asking nicely can't hurt, especially as I read the ToDo list in the original FU source ;) .

BTW, if I would think this way, I could say that GordianKnot is not designed for any backup as it's only a bitrate calculator ;) (those who remember the beginning of GK on D9's old forum know what I mean).

Not to mention that GK shouldn't be compared to FU, IMO, but I've said that way too often... These two tools do the same task, but have a completely different approach (or had?).

Anyway, thanks to all the programmers, testers, thanks to the mods, guide writers and all the helpfull people on this board.

Your're right it shouldn't. But now, accidently, (through no fault of my own :) ) new GK kid, GKItFast4U, will be compared to everything that does conversion easy though.

It's always a good thing to keep informed, and I do believe in ideas and knowledge sharing.

P.S. if serious - ppl will always ask you for more stuff to do util you give up :) They seem to want all-in-one solution for every single problem they have...

I know that, but I won't give up that easily : GK and its derivates are by design very well suited to work with AVS files and VOBs on hard disk (two common requests for FU), FU is not. IMHO, FU must stay an easy to use tool.

That's why in the latest FU release I've "hidden" some advanced features in an ini file and disabled them by default.
This way, I'm almost sure that people who don't even know how to browse through folders won't bug me with questions like "why does FU not work for me?" when they generated a MKV movie and don't know they need a filter to allow playback :angry: while advanced users complained about no Matroska support :rolleyes:

Anyway, let's keep up the good work :)

By giving up I meant not implementing requested features, but rather stopping responding to those requests :)

To everyone: should I release partially translated language packs as they are sent to me (some strings still in english), or would it be better to only release each one only when it's fully translated ?
