Just a quick question.

I've got a commercial DVD, and our client has requested that we remove the dolby digital intro prior to the main menu.

Unfortunetly we do not have the source files, only the mastered dvd.

So basically I've come up with the following ideas to get rid of it.

1) Totally remove any refrence of the intro from the .ifo and go straight to the main menu (unfortunetly this will also remove the copyright information which we would like to keep)

2) Replace the dolby digital video and audio with blank video and audio and then reintroduce.

3) Set chapter point before and after the dolby digital intro, and tell the .ifo to skip that section.

4) Re author the whole dvd (I'd rather not do that as I'm not being paid for this job).

My prefered option is #3 but if anyone knows which method is acieveable and has some time to guide me through it, it'd be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Gooki.

I forgot to add, the resulting DVD must be fully compliant as it'll be going into commercial production.

How can you go into commercial production of a copy of a commercial DVD - isn't that illegal? If you got permission from the original author wouldn't the source files be available for editing?

This might be too simple, but if the intro is prior to the menu, why can't you just go into the video_ts.ifo (wherever it's at) and delete playback of the dolby with ifoedit? The copyright info should be separate from the dolby. Then again I have no idea what your dealing with.

That is what i was thinking, unfortunetly the dolby intro is part of the of the copyright into.

Yes i do have permission from the copyright owners, unfortunetly the last production company wants to charge them an arm and a leg for the source files/editing, and they cannot afford it for a simply removing the dolby intro.(+ they take forever to make changes, where as i'm in the same city as the content owners).

Got it all sorted now.

Thaks for the input all, I ended up just changing the "Cell End Sector" and the "Last Sector In This Cell" to the frame number I wanted it to stop at.

No idea if the DVD in compliant anymore, but will do plenty of testing before sending it to the manufacturers.

Hmm, maybe not all is fine.

When i make a disc image, windvd goes all f**ed, and when I test it in the xbox, it still plays the intro. Damn, thought I had got it sorted first go.

Demux the audio and video... cut out the Dolby Digital segment, then reauthor just the newly modified segment. Merge it back into the original VOB set and ifoupdate it...

GM006 or anybody else, how does one go about:

reauthor just the newly modified segment. Merge it back into the original VOB set and ifoupdate it...

I've got a fair idea of how to go about it, but I'd rather get it right from the start.

Thanks.

If I just cut the offending vob with DVtool I presume that is the same as doing:

"Demux the audio and video... cut out the Dolby Digital segment, then reauthor just the newly modified segment."

???

Done, thanks for the pointer GM006.

Just for the recorded, I split the .vob with DVtool, demnuxed, and then remuxed/authored with infoedit.
